I watched it a few times and stopped it several times while making my card. I first stenciled the white panel for my card front. Then I followed her tutorial, but didn't use the string mechanism. Pulling the top brush handle down does the same motion. I can't stop "painting" with the brushes!! I just couldn't put my ideas onto paper. Ever get like that? The parameters this week were:</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Project: Card with a heart</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Element: Plant</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Colors: Vintage</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Random: Lace on the base</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid4DQQ1ArmvhdEXlIafDvL9KP95JXkDYilgvo4sp7zvKXZUPZ6aZK5YAL2B7LhcDA-R9BHw5O0iJ8vHwNdSdvu8s0eysivHytT8KWo2-_U-CbQ72RToSlYGKnRXVzOQ7gA35MI2HfE075ODDEvbpt6NnGRHZyKKd40VYoXP3etEpNWTs-YJ-bXGPmBsIQ/s640/CR206%20vintage%20w_sig.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid4DQQ1ArmvhdEXlIafDvL9KP95JXkDYilgvo4sp7zvKXZUPZ6aZK5YAL2B7LhcDA-R9BHw5O0iJ8vHwNdSdvu8s0eysivHytT8KWo2-_U-CbQ72RToSlYGKnRXVzOQ7gA35MI2HfE075ODDEvbpt6NnGRHZyKKd40VYoXP3etEpNWTs-YJ-bXGPmBsIQ/w480-h640/CR206%20vintage%20w_sig.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Craft Roulette allows pretty much all interpretations of the parameters, but you need to explain what you did to include them. My card has three hearts: two on the bottle label and the one with the sentiment. My plant is the vine on the label and most of my colors are vintage, including ink blending Antique Linen distress ink on the label and doily. My lace is that little doily under the bottle. My other vintage item is the wine or champagne. Is this wine a good vintage? Who knows?</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Products I used:</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">My Favorite Things: Pop the Champagne die set</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Stampin' Up!: Sentiment, patterned paper</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Pink and Main: Sentiment banner die</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Sugar Pea Designs: Card Front Element Builder die set</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Spellbinders: Lace circle die (super vintage purchase)</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Concord and 9th: Mini ink pad</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Ranger: Antique Linen Distress Ink</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Cork paper: It really is cork!</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">White gel pen</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Gold glimmery vellum</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">First I die cut and built the bottle, then stamped the label and colored it. (The vine stamp is only a tiny part of a stamp that came with my little Sidekick die cutting machine.) A little white gel pen added some shine to the bottle. </span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">I stamped and die cut the sentiment banner next. </span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Then I cut a strip of gold glimmer vellum to ground my die cuts. I chose a patterned paper that could be vintage-y (didn't have to but kept thinking I did) and die cut it into a stitched rectangle. </span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">I arranged my elements and adhered them to their places. Last, I popped up the bottle on foam tape for some depth.</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">It is always fun to make the bottle and think of something personalized for its label. Here is a card I CASEd earlier this year from the MFT website.</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2pG7URNP-8zdlS5js9t937dKgEH663_LMojEmZzDMPHaXQTxPRjIpdJNan7qom21KAcEGLWa9fY2lHy9ju2XTYcMKil17fJNpwuG9FsGc0XcLDHxybf9K66PR5J3Q9MBZlhIZuwwNrKqXH_LPyZ4c8cqd016FsTBtaeVHGqQYeg6GCl6MOE6V9Qt8-Ko/s640/JUGS%202024%20Cheers%20w_sig.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="562" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2pG7URNP-8zdlS5js9t937dKgEH663_LMojEmZzDMPHaXQTxPRjIpdJNan7qom21KAcEGLWa9fY2lHy9ju2XTYcMKil17fJNpwuG9FsGc0XcLDHxybf9K66PR5J3Q9MBZlhIZuwwNrKqXH_LPyZ4c8cqd016FsTBtaeVHGqQYeg6GCl6MOE6V9Qt8-Ko/w351-h400/JUGS%202024%20Cheers%20w_sig.jpg" width="351" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">See you back here soon!</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Shadows Into Light; font-size: x-large;">-Carol</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: left;"><br /></p>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15138332036097281881noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-377682857656787663.post-19375308906944124972024-03-14T00:00:00.080-04:002024-03-16T18:44:48.753-04:00A little birdie told me...<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span>We have a special challenge this week at <a href="https://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2024/03/just-us-girls-718-in-collaboration-with.html" target="_blank">Just Us Girls Challenge #718</a>, partnering with <a href="https://timeoutchallenges.blogspot.com/2024/03/challenge-259-special-collaboration.html" target="_blank">Time Out Challenges!</a> You will find all of the fun details there. </span><span>By entering the linky tool below you will </span><b>automatically</b><span> also join </span><a href="https://timeoutchallenges.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Time Out</a><span>! Aren't the skinny stick legs funny coming out of the boots?!! I assembled them and they sat on my desk for a few weeks while I thought about how to put them on a card. I ran across the clothesline dies and thought they would look better than me drawing a line for them to stand on...and that set the card in motion. I stenciled a panel of white cardstock with clouds, then arranged the birds. I added the rectangle frame and stamped the sentiment. Inside, I stenciled clouds again to carry the theme over and make a place for the end of the sentiment. Looking back at it now, this card could be a baby card for someone who just found out that they are expecting.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">We hope you will join our fun collab this round with Time Out Challenges!</span></p><p><span style="font-family: Shadows Into Light; font-size: x-large;">-Carol</span></p>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15138332036097281881noreply@blogger.com19tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-377682857656787663.post-11085200661526881862024-03-13T05:00:00.015-04:002024-03-13T05:00:00.250-04:00Oh Christmas Tree<p><span style="font-size: medium;">This month at <a href="https://christmas-craft-creations.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Christmas Craft Creations</a> we are using Designer Paper. I am playing along at <a href="http://www.global-design-project.com/2024/03/global-design-project-436-case-designer.html" target="_blank">Global Design Project GDP #436</a> where we are asked to CASE Jay Soriano's card. I saw the vertical lines and the topsy turvy shapes along the midline, as well as the loosely placed sentiments. I haven't made this style of gate fold card for a while and I love the removable centerpiece so much. In person the grass doesn't look as sparse as it does in the photo. My idea was to have the bunnies peaking out from the garden.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqRZ9bYSCJRGpSshF_dq33rm2WjHVmgGhZxzIhopens2WKShGSqDz4AqswMVNXFKOFVKWdVLXDGOWbEgrvBTxc5EBxKZFNtoBvbi1uyz1aPTj1XdmQsrTcnXAb-AurwN5Zgz8pFDpFx9KMNTu1CX3ffXQ6qsopbGBXJnu8czEOk9Y-McSBN8GP9W9SU6s/s640/GDP%20Easter%20w_sig.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; Score in from each 5 1/2" end at 2 1/8". Trim a hair off each short edge so the two "gates" don't touch.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Cut 4 of the same size circles, three out of light-ish weight cardstock and one out of a sturdier weight. The latter will be the top circle that you decorate. I inked blended green on the heavy circle for the grass background. Stamp the bunnies and color with Copics. Fussy cut the bunnies. Ran a scrap of lime green cardstock through my paper crimper, then cut narrow strips. Bunched it all up in my hand to further make it messy.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Fold two of the circles in half. They should look sort of like tacos. Adhere them to the other light weight circle with the folds butting up to each other in the center of the flat circle. Now you have two tacos facing outward from each other on top of a flat circle, right? Decorate your fourth circle, then adhere it to the tacos side (not the flat side) of the mechanism you previously made. WARNING: Make sure to line up your decorated circle so that it's top edge is lined up against the taco folds. (On my first try, my bunnies were off center instead of ears up toward the top of the card.)</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">This card can also have a top fold card inside (slightly smaller than A2) adhered to the center portion of the card base. Decorate the front of the closed top fold card and leave the inside of it for a handwritten message.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Mat the two "gates" with patterned paper and if you wish, stamp a sentiment. Hold the gate fold base closed, the mechanism slides down the two inner gate edges from the top (making sure the left gate and right gate are separated into the two tacos). I know this sounds crazy, but it works. See last photo...look at the mechanism carefully.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Happy Easter season!</span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: Shadows Into Light; font-size: x-large;">-Carol</span><br /><p><br /></p></div>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15138332036097281881noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-377682857656787663.post-34520745213021467982024-03-09T12:52:00.002-05:002024-03-09T12:52:45.164-05:00Birthday Envelope<p><span style="font-size: medium;">The envelopes from the My Favorite Things Paper Goods die set have served me well. I have made several different styles of cards using them. Here is another use today, as deemed "The Project" at <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/craftroulette" target="_blank">Craft Roulette #205</a> (also Craftroulette.live) last Friday evening. The parameters are:</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Project: Include an envelope</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Colors: Party</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Element: Crown</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Random: 3 strips of paper</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwv_OljLvS9p6ofACnRzbhhlQ4eW1BpFNtwWDft2vqf6pQI3ScEa7k1OZnnnWGEziaam3RUUMcAqqTW575gUib5fyYe60HyUGd4phWZOrwkW-9dCYHQB17FKgZ8nK_ISrGHTpO5Heh6FLntFTfnmpaxncY1RD-h9nUBOgP7VALTwm3acXio-VXlYFnv0I/s640/CR%20206%20envelope.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="537" height="597" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwv_OljLvS9p6ofACnRzbhhlQ4eW1BpFNtwWDft2vqf6pQI3ScEa7k1OZnnnWGEziaam3RUUMcAqqTW575gUib5fyYe60HyUGd4phWZOrwkW-9dCYHQB17FKgZ8nK_ISrGHTpO5Heh6FLntFTfnmpaxncY1RD-h9nUBOgP7VALTwm3acXio-VXlYFnv0I/w502-h597/CR%20206%20envelope.jpg" width="502" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><span style="text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: medium;">As you can see, I went all in with party! I have hoarded the candle patterned paper for a while, and thought my design would start there. The envelope parts were already die cut from my last project, including the tag, so I assembled the envelope and stamped the tag with HB2U - Happy Birthday to You. The birthday crown is gold metallic paper, but my photo shows it to be dark. I added matching twine and tucked the tag in so it can be removed and replaced over and over. I love an interactive card! It is also interactive because I popped up the envelope on an Art Impressions Action Wobbler. The envelope shakes and wobbles back and forth with a little pull on it. And I added three strips of matching cardstock across the middle of the card.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: medium;">If you haven't ever watched Craft Roulette, it is on You Tube on Friday Nights, 7:30 EST. People form all over the world watch, comment and participate by making a card that is due by Sunday night at midnight Mountain Time.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: medium;">I can't wait to give this to my daughter for her birthday!</span></div><div style="font-size: large; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Shadows Into Light; font-size: x-large;">-Carol</span></div></span><p></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15138332036097281881noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-377682857656787663.post-30310419266121472172024-03-07T00:00:00.088-05:002024-03-07T00:00:00.149-05:00Lucky Me<p><span style="font-size: medium;">March is here already and we are speeding toward the next holiday, St. Patrick's Day. Our sweet teammate Stephanie is hostess this week at <a href="https://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Just Us Girls Color Week Challenge #717</a> and has chosen green, lime green + one color of our choice. I chose raspberry. I have a few shamrock stamps but I wasn't feeling that look today. Instead, I shopped my stash and used dies, punches and a stencil to make my "whimsical" rainbow card. (I call it that because, well, the colors and those loosely interpreted shamrocks.)</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0cO1zdNCRTN6vL5_PT_LyiaVdkUpt3upP2I-p9j7MEcp20tAidMBKOfrRivnWMdnfG53cSpcEOlyoXMeyuE6jh-qSZ2dN_2GSlXy_3SnmIeWveLuRju2lBf9GVbbBGPqFT0xwuLfEHW9CuOxqdTFANpd5ce-y1Kk6kQpWVLFts0z4wQWfSUqEIh0bI0w/s640/JUGS%20Greens%20+!%20w_sig.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="422" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0cO1zdNCRTN6vL5_PT_LyiaVdkUpt3upP2I-p9j7MEcp20tAidMBKOfrRivnWMdnfG53cSpcEOlyoXMeyuE6jh-qSZ2dN_2GSlXy_3SnmIeWveLuRju2lBf9GVbbBGPqFT0xwuLfEHW9CuOxqdTFANpd5ce-y1Kk6kQpWVLFts0z4wQWfSUqEIh0bI0w/w422-h640/JUGS%20Greens%20+!%20w_sig.jpg" width="422" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span><p></p><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Products I used:</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">My Favorite Things: Inside and Out Stitched circle dies (rainbow stripes)</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Simon Says Stamp: Whoa You're Amazing die </span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Sugar Pea Designs: Card Front Elements Builder scalloped rectangle die</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Stampin' Up!: Small flower/shamrock punch</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Handheld tiny circle/hole punch</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Lucky die: Not sure what brand it is...maybe Stampin' Up!</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Pink and Main: Rectangle patterns stencil</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Concord and 9th: Mini ink pad</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Ink blending brush</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">I cut 2 circles at a time to create each rainbow stripe, using green, lime and raspberry cardstock. I made an Easter-themed double bridge card. It is for Craft Roulette #204, which was another fun episode. We were challenged to make the following:</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Project: Thinking of You</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Element: Hear(s) and/or Ear(s)</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Colors: Fairy Tale</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Random: Stamped Background</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; I had to try it again. Here is a tutorial for it from <a href="https://thepamperedstamper.com/2017/11/easy-beautiful-bridge-fold-cards/" target="_blank">The Pampered Stamper</a>.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">After I made my base, I stamped, colored, and fussy cut the bunnies and carrots. I cut two white panels for the center of the front and back, and stamped the sentiments on them. I stamped a sun on the front panel for my background along with the " Thinking of You sentiment. The sun made those carrots grow in the garden! I thought about stenciling clouds i the background, but I thought the card was going to be busy enough already. The clouds and blue sky are implied.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Next I embossed another white piece of cardstock with dots. I like that they are wonky and not uniformly lined up, since my card is whimsical, like a fairy tale. I cut 1" strips of the embossed cardstock and attached them to the columns of the bridge card, front and back. The bunny ears cover the required element and the colors for a fairy tale are pretty much any bright or pastel. I attached the carrots and bunnies to a strip of acetate across the front of the card base to create a bridge. On the back of the card there is space for a handwritten message to the recipient of the card.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Well, I better go add this to the Craft Roulette site...can't wait to see what everyone came up with this week!</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;">Happy Spring!</span></div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: Shadows Into Light; font-size: x-large;">-Carol</span></div><div><br /></div>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15138332036097281881noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-377682857656787663.post-66156901078863386392024-03-01T06:00:00.028-05:002024-03-01T06:00:00.344-05:00Paradise<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span>I have something old, something new for my mini album this month at <a href="https://minialbummania.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Mini Album Mania</a>. Cute stamps at the post office catch my eye, especially at Christmas. With the current postage stamp and die craze I have found that over the years I was already a collector of city postage mark stamps, as well as funny ones and now pretty ones on a theme. I made this card for the <a href="https://www.craftee1.com/2024/02/28/february-edition-guest-designer-woodblock-wednesday/" target="_blank">Woodblock Wednesday</a> challenge for February.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjncjcDTlsGTktfwLV0iDLMmc4RixNBd_2ss_2BKNcRx6MkhZVA2QYX7cNyaibawlIpaTB9KxEnLQGrBPKSBguphtcqRP6F0U1idem-IQ7e8D4NL7d-GlkMaoBsCEIHxIwdeD2hfL0mRy3QF_dWjJmRUIlgvajkN8G9ggQ_wRr2NdTm7jLhT_s_L31TbTw/s640/WBW%20FEB%20face%20w_sig.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="589" data-original-width="640" height="369" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjncjcDTlsGTktfwLV0iDLMmc4RixNBd_2ss_2BKNcRx6MkhZVA2QYX7cNyaibawlIpaTB9KxEnLQGrBPKSBguphtcqRP6F0U1idem-IQ7e8D4NL7d-GlkMaoBsCEIHxIwdeD2hfL0mRy3QF_dWjJmRUIlgvajkN8G9ggQ_wRr2NdTm7jLhT_s_L31TbTw/w400-h369/WBW%20FEB%20face%20w_sig.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdvfHZonKeHpOkO7i_jbZOz7UqjESFkUF6mVr-qj6gZSsSa-zi4MwmKA21Q_IjLXL6YTTCssH9HlfI9qZ_4WydToVZNt9SqOM4WzhV7FWuqxeQv63TVOhudRRoC9X9xDe55pHkD6PddMLnY96J4s_apTC4j-jeBaHDWr22mN5PmkdnoL6u3Ci0v-9_gqw/s1024/woodblock-Wednesday-graphic-1024x1024.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="1024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdvfHZonKeHpOkO7i_jbZOz7UqjESFkUF6mVr-qj6gZSsSa-zi4MwmKA21Q_IjLXL6YTTCssH9HlfI9qZ_4WydToVZNt9SqOM4WzhV7FWuqxeQv63TVOhudRRoC9X9xDe55pHkD6PddMLnY96J4s_apTC4j-jeBaHDWr22mN5PmkdnoL6u3Ci0v-9_gqw/w400-h400/woodblock-Wednesday-graphic-1024x1024.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Products I used:</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Judi Kins: face stamp</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Postage and Breathe stamps: Concord and 9th</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">The Greetery: Postage die</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Copic markers</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Versafine black ink</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Random patterned paper</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">For my card I used a wooden graphic face stamp as my focal point and put it on a postage die cut. I chose to color the face with red, pink and purple, as my mood led me this morning. Elizabeth Taylor, and actress from eons ago, had purple eyes and I thought I would steal the idea from her. I added postmarks and the cost of the stamp with various other stamps I have. To me the postmark on the top right looks at little like she has side swept bangs. I decided to add a saying on the stamp and I liked "breathe" because we need to relax and take deep breaths more often. I sort of cased some cards I found on Pinterest using Penny Black stamps. Here is an example of one.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjSqcpspcyHODdKH4xY6NOeuTT45fqWSnGRqQwa_PfI16GzCJ1HtL66Cx8Y-rZ_2KiLqlOVMYQoVkJFCr4rIpCBfR4NP7E8wQYnqBh25Wd2xlSEdWHJm1nGrNALbHth26-VTUHkHKT1r0rLGRLCh9SZdQRgXf3LcH7b8W4zNlV7Y21pWzc8awV9zLKnwc/s569/Penny%20Black%20postal%20card.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="569" data-original-width="475" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjSqcpspcyHODdKH4xY6NOeuTT45fqWSnGRqQwa_PfI16GzCJ1HtL66Cx8Y-rZ_2KiLqlOVMYQoVkJFCr4rIpCBfR4NP7E8wQYnqBh25Wd2xlSEdWHJm1nGrNALbHth26-VTUHkHKT1r0rLGRLCh9SZdQRgXf3LcH7b8W4zNlV7Y21pWzc8awV9zLKnwc/s320/Penny%20Black%20postal%20card.jpeg" width="267" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><span style="font-size: medium;">If you know me, you know that I have gazillions of wooden stamps because I started stamping in the middle ages. I should be playing along with #woodblockwednesday every month with all I have to choose from. Amy Tsuruta makes the BEST cards and I sit and judge every one of mine. She would love to have you join the challenge. On a random white panel of cardstock, I ink blended the colors I knew I was going to use for the die cuts. Then I placed my dies where I needed them to be color-wise and cut them out. I stamped and die cut the board with GinaK brown ink then ink blended the board here and there to look like wood. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">I adhered the sweets to the board and set it aside. Can you guess what those white dots are supposed to be on the dark chocolate hearts in the upper left corner of the board? The cookies at the bottom look just like some that the grocery store sells!</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">I stenciled another panel of white cardstock and cut it down to be smaller than an A2 card base. I adhered it to my card base, then grabbed a"napkin" die cut (The Greetery - Coaster die) and adhered that in the middle of the stenciled panel. Then I popped up the charcuterie board on foam tape.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">I stamped the charcuterie sentiment and matted it with red to match the hearts. I cut the sentiment in half and put it on the panel as you see in the photo. I ended up, last minute, adding a tiny brown flower stamp in a few places to tie the background into the chocolate on the board.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">We are saying thank you for guesting with us this month to Denise Morgans, who contributed such wonderful cards. Would you like to be our guest for a month? We hope you will join us for this stencil challenge. You can even make your own with dies! My "formal" is the sparkly white Hugs die cut that looks like an elegant formal gown. The "informal" is the cotton-looking prints of the quilt pattern. A quilt is "warm" and so are hugs. Finally, the "crisscross" comes from the cross-stitch and knit patterned papers.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Products I used:</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Concord and 9th: Poinsettia Quilt dies</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Pink and Main: Hugs die</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Impression Obsession: Easel die</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">White glitter cardstock</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Random patterned papers</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">I cut a 5" by 7" panel and the easel from heavy white cardstock. I made an A2 card base using lighter weight white cardstock to cut the quilt card because the dies had to cut through the double layer of the closed card base. I cut the hugs die three times, the last being out of the glitter cardstock. Last, I cut the quilt pieces out of some patterned papers I had on hand.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">I stacked and glued the three hugs die cuts together to be thicker and more prominent over the patterned papers. I adhered the pink cross-stitch patterned paper to the large white panel. I added the quilt pieces to the quilt card and the hugs on top. Then I adhered the quilt card to the left side of the large white panel. All I had to do was glue the easel onto the back of the white panel to finish up my project!</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">This card was actually pretty quick easy to make. It took a while in planning to get all of the parameters met. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Stay warm!</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">-Carol</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p><p><br /></p>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15138332036097281881noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-377682857656787663.post-30639128585256114042024-02-15T00:00:00.016-05:002024-02-15T15:23:33.425-05:00Ombré Sea<p><span style="font-size: medium;">For our <a href="https://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2024/02/just-us-girls-challenge-714-mood-board.html" target="_blank">Just Us Girls Challenge #714</a>, Ina has chosen a moodboard by the sea with absolutely gorgeous colors! I know this is a Christmas card on February 14th, but it just happened to fall on this day. This month at <a href="https://christmas-craft-creations.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Christmas Craft Creations</a> our fun theme is Stenciling or Embossing Folders. I came across <a href="https://blog.hellobluebird.com/2023/11/16/holiday-2023-release-day-1/" target="_blank"><i>this</i></a> adorable card by Leanne West for Hello Bluebird that I CASEd with what I have on hand. I love all of her details, especially the postage dies! For our challenge, I stenciled the background of my "postage stamps" and I happened to use embossed cardstock. (It came that way but we are wanting participants to use an embossing folder. None of my folders fit this envelope die.) Here is what I made.</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitlHhAPocl4-RAHgQ6elDfbLZXKSRtX2eqrPwpMQ-WPi_mlL8PYfOIZIEtR83cc5VmdI2YvFxhooeCQ3tUyXDpOjdxtY1FnUgmhRS-xIM00BF-2j0LZp-R8Z4jFYbeu6Xyrwf2uIIKqf0CIsyzdgeYTV0pF18WEWfwHxP6C99qk4PjPTA4nKZ9UvkfBSI/s640/CCC%20Feb%2024%20stencil%20w_sig%20(1).jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="448" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitlHhAPocl4-RAHgQ6elDfbLZXKSRtX2eqrPwpMQ-WPi_mlL8PYfOIZIEtR83cc5VmdI2YvFxhooeCQ3tUyXDpOjdxtY1FnUgmhRS-xIM00BF-2j0LZp-R8Z4jFYbeu6Xyrwf2uIIKqf0CIsyzdgeYTV0pF18WEWfwHxP6C99qk4PjPTA4nKZ9UvkfBSI/w448-h640/CCC%20Feb%2024%20stencil%20w_sig%20(1).jpg" width="448" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEga0jrC-zzOZD7LP_Z1J8W91TG3uO-YXg6tuNTIZ35SMNzWTbMLOwPqFSe63kbTAyFFKHJqOQhsG5Z6EIpk47oz1oIXTk-Wb3XAMzbZQeYnPcfbGnipxSUoX-z2ufssvq4adRj8kRHtjRom31ojRkb-ZoBRB4ybL70Cb_I3aUq9EWrSXWYqClbkxzZmkLs/s320/CCC%20feb%2024%20sten:emb.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="236" data-original-width="320" height="295" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEga0jrC-zzOZD7LP_Z1J8W91TG3uO-YXg6tuNTIZ35SMNzWTbMLOwPqFSe63kbTAyFFKHJqOQhsG5Z6EIpk47oz1oIXTk-Wb3XAMzbZQeYnPcfbGnipxSUoX-z2ufssvq4adRj8kRHtjRom31ojRkb-ZoBRB4ybL70Cb_I3aUq9EWrSXWYqClbkxzZmkLs/w400-h295/CCC%20feb%2024%20sten:emb.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Products I used:</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Waffle Flower: Postage Collage dies and stencils</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Mama Elephant: Holiday Bitties stamp set (images on postage)</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Honeybee Stamps: Country Christmas Wreath dies (greenery)</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Spellbinders: Envelope of Wonder etched dies (envelope and tag)</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">The Greetery: Destination North Pole stamp set (Love, Santa stamp)</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Prismacolor pencils</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Wink of Stella pen</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Concord and 9th: Mini ink pads</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Versafine: Onyx black ink pad</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Bearly Arts liquid glue</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Blending brushes</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Patterned paper</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Red glitter cardstock (red berries on greenery)</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Rhinestones</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">To start, I die cut the postage collage. Next, I stamped the images in the individual "postage stamps" and then stamped them again on Post-It notes. I fussy cut each image...the little gift and crossed candy canes being the hardest to cut. I placed these masks on top of the stamped images in the postage. Then I used my postage stencils to lightly ink blend the background behind each image.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">I removed the masks and used my colored pencils to color in the images. I added Wink of Stella sparkle to the snow, whipped cream, candy canes and the snowman's hat.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">I cut apart the postage into three sets of two, then I die cut the greenery.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">I die cut the envelope and assembled it. (First time using it. Had to watch a You Tube video.)</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">I played with placement, then tucked the greenery and postage inside the envelope with glue. I made a 5" x 7" card base, cut some patterned paper to fit the front and adhered it. I die cut and stamped the tag, then tied some silver sparkly embroidery thread around the envelope.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Then I adhered the completed envelope to the card front. I added just a few rhinestones and was finished!</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">We can't wait to see your cards using stencils and/or embossing folders! See you in the gallery!</span></p><p><span style="font-family: Shadows Into Light; font-size: x-large;">-Carol</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15138332036097281881noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-377682857656787663.post-36737948805908475012024-02-11T14:57:00.005-05:002024-02-12T09:38:59.529-05:00Hello Sweet Thing<p><span style="font-size: medium;">For my third week watching and participating in <a href="https://craftroulette.live/episodes" target="_blank">Craft Roulette</a> it was Episode #201. The parameters were:</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Project: Easel Card</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Element: Sweets</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Colors: Quiet</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Random: Bokeh</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">While I got a little carried away with my colors (they are SO forgiving on what you use), I was able to hit all the requirements. Here is my easel card that I CASEd from the Pretty Pink Posh website. I'm also sharing it over at the <a href="https://inkspirationalchallenges.blogspot.com/2024/02/inkspirational-challenge-309-word.html" target="_blank">Inkspirational Challenge #309</a>: Hearts.</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiudIH-mYXUMIWUXcl89j_W7k9f09o0TM6R-QlhHcQGXM7-FJ0XhUI_UmXPN2diw2ciGifrLdyODAYNPqJSRNQmL0hHndJwPolV-RAI-tvFanw3QEDH4CVCR49eEaqQv6Qp0_tluTL9wa2F8P_RHAyiqaUjfROIi9lRTPC4VzL18iW20f0J-FbRA1CbnLs/s640/CR201%20w_sig.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="596" height="457" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiudIH-mYXUMIWUXcl89j_W7k9f09o0TM6R-QlhHcQGXM7-FJ0XhUI_UmXPN2diw2ciGifrLdyODAYNPqJSRNQmL0hHndJwPolV-RAI-tvFanw3QEDH4CVCR49eEaqQv6Qp0_tluTL9wa2F8P_RHAyiqaUjfROIi9lRTPC4VzL18iW20f0J-FbRA1CbnLs/w426-h457/CR201%20w_sig.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNZhQFxAjv1r1zrFKD5nV9mF8VCi9NTvQSJ1pEjkZjlfAoAO7KMPpSwA0fLM1l9oFpWezgDWDn19SuArtfiTMjYINiMraYu6E6hGmaXqA26pVosqgO4cLTa7lH0XDCjdaPErYluRz6kO5qm6D710JIelMVgNu8wU9MSLXMXH641APjavzh1zFCDN0SFro/s640/CR201%20w_sig%20side.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="562" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNZhQFxAjv1r1zrFKD5nV9mF8VCi9NTvQSJ1pEjkZjlfAoAO7KMPpSwA0fLM1l9oFpWezgDWDn19SuArtfiTMjYINiMraYu6E6hGmaXqA26pVosqgO4cLTa7lH0XDCjdaPErYluRz6kO5qm6D710JIelMVgNu8wU9MSLXMXH641APjavzh1zFCDN0SFro/w421-h562/CR201%20w_sig%20side.jpg" width="421" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwgoly2ms_1SEWPIDOOU0SjJpoAZkb0zZ8INq8h9oDDpMZaijUk2h1dhStDcZ4FGhztEp03357EslIu6Tkd4qkLQi5lpVmnGF_PgL74aKw-Rb-_5_YrBaklOg6deXjVXXkGuAbGWJwWiPl2KN1cs1zthkASZQ7cmR7L53sNR-da22U7YUpGSxyfrSYCqM/s320/Inkspirational%20hearts%20%23309.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="320" data-original-width="320" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwgoly2ms_1SEWPIDOOU0SjJpoAZkb0zZ8INq8h9oDDpMZaijUk2h1dhStDcZ4FGhztEp03357EslIu6Tkd4qkLQi5lpVmnGF_PgL74aKw-Rb-_5_YrBaklOg6deXjVXXkGuAbGWJwWiPl2KN1cs1zthkASZQ7cmR7L53sNR-da22U7YUpGSxyfrSYCqM/s1600/Inkspirational%20hearts%20%23309.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><span style="font-size: medium;">Products I used: </span><p></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Pretty Pink Posh: Valentine Mug Additions die set</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Concord and 9th: Orange You Sweet dies, Enamel hearts</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Park Lane: Tiny Pearl Hearts</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Stencil: Handmade with a variety of dies</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Sunny Studio: Loopy Letters Lower die set</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Distress inks</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Blending brushes</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">An easel card is simple to make. Cut a top-folding A2 card (4 1/4" X 5 1/2"), then score the front panel again half way down from the top at 2 3/4" for the easel. Attach your decorated shape or panel to the <u>bottom half only</u> of the card front. (I created a heart stencil for my bokeh background.) Then create something that will hold it in place to keep it from closing/collapsing. I used three 1/4" strips of heavy cardstock as a "ledge" for the card front/easel to rest when standing. Sometimes people use a button or other thick-ish embellishment.</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">You should check out Mary Gunn's Craft Roulette. The "funn" parameters selected by spin of the wheel were:</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Project: Kid's card</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Element: Comic or Cartoon</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Colors: Brrr</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Random: Button(s)</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAA4DClzXK7nY-9RqmV6WTO-RTNnl3iMIhHDnHxJ3Gb8ZKjLsgoER66ptI8IgM5NUAlGAxjbWjBfivM6jywcsWPSYaj4aEWCMt3tFZhtfExGUbOZ6JRgjstboIluDCB3_wvNcDjdRJA-H23c2oGaMTZmXXLbFlXddI7HfAUjEOEvwqkq1SJD4kZW0fmhY/s640/CR200%20w_sig.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAA4DClzXK7nY-9RqmV6WTO-RTNnl3iMIhHDnHxJ3Gb8ZKjLsgoER66ptI8IgM5NUAlGAxjbWjBfivM6jywcsWPSYaj4aEWCMt3tFZhtfExGUbOZ6JRgjstboIluDCB3_wvNcDjdRJA-H23c2oGaMTZmXXLbFlXddI7HfAUjEOEvwqkq1SJD4kZW0fmhY/w480-h640/CR200%20w_sig.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">I knew I had a couple of Snoopy stamps from waaaaaay back, so I started hunting. I actually found four!!! I adore the one I used here with the cliché originally from the first phrase of the opening sentence of the 1830 novel <i>Paul Clifford</i> by English novelist Edward Bulwer-Lytton. Cartoonist Charles Schultz's character Snoopy sometimes felt he was a world-famous author and often started his novels with "It was a dark and stormy night." As a child, I read every Peanuts book that Charles Schultz wrote. I had pillows on my bed with the characters on them, and a wastebasket with Peanuts characters. I'm a big Peanuts fan from way back.</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">I used blues for the Brrr feeling with lighter dots as snowfall. I added more snowfall with colorful enamel dots in the colors from each cartoon and a handmade snowflake button tied with silver cord (inspired by Gina herself who made one). I colored with Prismacolor pencils. The red was added due to Snoopy's doghouse roof and yellow because of his little bird friend Woodstock. I stamped snowflakes to show the stormy night and added Wink of Stella for sparkle.</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Since the novel he is writing begins with the famous cliché, I thought that the way to teach a child not to fret about an actual dark and stormy night is to be positive and embrace the snowfall, like Snoopy in these images. As a child, it is fun to play in the snow, right? Children don't have to shovel it or drive in it! I think a child would like this card for the Snoopy character, the enamel dots, and the colors.</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">If my pictures appear in my inbox soon, I will make the deadline and enter my card at Craft Roulette. At high internet traffic times it takes forever for a photo to go from my phone to my computer. (Airdrop takes a while as well for some reason.)</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">I can't wait to see all the versions of the parameters for this challenge! And congrats to Mary Gunn Funn for achieving 10,000 followers during the 200th episode! Two great milestones!</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;">See you soon,</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Shadows Into Light; font-size: x-large;">-Carol</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15138332036097281881noreply@blogger.com0
